Oh, Cathy, what a sad story! And it makes me angry too! It disgusts me that we really aren't far from where we were during slavery. My God, what is wrong with people? We are all just humans, looking for a safe, loving life. None of us has a choice in where, when, what ethnicity or race we are born into. We are not born with hate and racism. It is a learned behavior. So many people still teaching their children to hate.
I shed tears reading this ~ for you, for her for all who still have to live in fear. No one should have to live this way. No one. The feels of your warm reception was no doubt immensely appreciated 🫶 ~ hugs 🫂
I bet you helped her feel more at ease. It certainly is terrible that people still feel this way. ❤️I’m so glad she came to your farm. You’re the best my friend.
bless you. you are beautiful. and i feel your heart all the way across the great land of lincoln (who would be mighty proud, by the way. your kindness speaks volumes. may it be echoed.....)
Thank you for taking such affectionate care of her, and ensuring that she was and felt welcome. I don’t know why other people feel the need to be so cruel.
It is easy to feel powerless to make change in a world that is actively hurting so many people. Sometimes, all you can do is be the safe space. And that is really important, too. I'm so glad she found your little slice of heaven on Earth over there in Iowa.
This made me cry. It was really not that long ago that Iowa was moving in the direction of becoming a cool and progressive state (you all voted for Obama twice!). I was watching from Illinois with hope then. There was hope! Not so much these days.
Your lovely farm is and always has been a safe refuge from the storm. I'm glad that this lady took the chance and found you because you showed her that not everyone in your beautiful state is about hate and control. It's time for Iowa's story and narrative to change. November 2026! I'm cheering you on from across the river!
Thank you for sharing this touching story. But she found YOU. A wonderful ally, in a lovely haven, to give her comfort and beauty.

There are more good people than there are bad. But the bullies rule right now. My hope is that “we will overcome.” Hang in there.

Sad, we seem to be moving backwards instead of forward

This made me cry too. Thank you for sharing.
what sadness alongside such joy in a peaceful place
And this is one of the many reasons I love you🥹
I'm so glad she found YOU. Rural Iowa can be a scary place for so many people. You, like Tiff Biehl, are a blue dot in a blood-red landscape.
